The narrative unfolds slowly, inviting readers into a deeply personal reckoning with the past. The narrator’s voice is candid and self-critical, lending authenticity to the emotional journey. Gerrick resists the temptation to present the search for truth as heroic, instead showing how it can be painful.  The atmosphere plays a crucial role in the book’s impact.
