Book Review : Muppit Boy and the Wheel of Power

Image
Book Review : Muppit Boy and the Wheel of Power  I had a lot of fun with Muppit Boy and the Wheel of Power. The book jumps straight into superhero territory, but Mo is definitely not your typical perfect superhero. He is still awkward, still worried about his oversized nose, still trying to figure out what to tell his friends, and still capable of getting himself into some seriously complicated situations. I liked that contrast because it keeps the story light and entertaining while giving Mo plenty of personality. The action is one of the strongest parts of the book. The Ferris wheel sequence is especially exciting, with Mo and Charlie working together to rescue people while the situation keeps becoming more dangerous. There is also plenty of humor sprinkled throughout Mo's narration, which makes even tense moments feel approachable. Another thing that stood out to me was the development of Mason Rizzo. I wasn't expecting the school bully to become such an important part of Mo...

Book Review : Clyde The Alien Puppy

Image
Book Review : Clyde The Alien Puppy  At first glance, Clyde the Alien Puppy, Commander of the Galaxy looks like a lighthearted story about a puppy with a very big imagination. Beneath that playful premise, however, is a touching story about vulnerability, friendship, safety, and belonging. The puppies begin cold, hungry, and lost, immediately creating a sense of uncertainty before the story gradually moves toward warmth and security. I appreciated the way the six puppies rely on one another throughout their journey. Bonnie stays close, Daisy seeks reassurance, Bucky and Duke protect the group, and Ozzy brings comic energy wherever he goes. Their differences become part of what makes them work together. The final message is simple but surprisingly powerful: adventure isn't always about travelling somewhere extraordinary. Sometimes it is about discovering a safe place and the people or in this case, puppies with whom you belong. Knowing afterward that the story was inspired by six re...

Book Review : Chateau Laux

Image
Book Review : Chateau Laux  Title : Chateau Laux  Author - David Laux  Chateau Laux tells the compelling story of Lawrence Kraymer, a young entrepreneur shaped by a troubled childhood. Born to an unwed mother who died young, Lawrence was raised by his grandfather, carrying the weight of abandonment from an early age. Everything changes when Lawrence crosses paths with the Laux family. He is instantly captivated by Catharine, the eldest daughter, and in a grand gesture of love, he builds a chateau for her. But this romantic act stirs up long-buried memories and unknowingly sets off a chain of tragic events that Lawrence could never have foreseen. This was my first time reading a book by Loux, and I was immediately drawn to his richly detailed settings and storytelling. Chateau Laux is a beautifully crafted novel—emotionally resonant and atmospherically vivid. I was completely engrossed from beginning to end. Blending romance, complex family relationships, and historical nu...

Book Review : Legacy of the Golden Bird

Book Review : Legacy of the Golden Bird  Title - Legacy of the Golden Bird  Author - Lainey Miles  Anyone who enjoys Children's Literature and Fiction should definitely pick up this fantastic book. This was my first time reading a work by Miles, and I was thoroughly impressed by her smooth and engaging writing style. The story follows Princess Salair and her bodyguard Sasha as they seek out Sir Charles—better known as Chuck—a loyal ally of the King, Salair’s father. After the mysterious disappearance of her parents from the kingdom, Sasha’s only thought was to bring the Princess to Chuck for help. At Chuck’s secret refuge, Salair meets Berra, a bird that Chuck had rescued. She feels an instant, mysterious connection with the creature—even experiencing a trance-like moment. Chuck fears that the disappearance of her parents might be linked to the ominous Dark Forest, possibly involving Drouck, a Dark Prince, who may have taken them to his castle deep within those woods. The...

Book Review : Bless your heart

Image
Book Review : Bless your heart  Title - Bless your heart  Author - Susann Camus  Our book club picked Bless Your Heart for its mix of suspense and strong characters—and it didn’t disappoint. The story grabs you right away as Jeannie Johal investigates a research project and stumbles into a murder mystery. The Greenville, North Carolina setting felt real and atmospheric, with places like the research facility and Arboretum adding depth. The Southern tone came through naturally in the dialogue and social cues. Jeannie sparked discussion—some liked her calm, logical side, others wanted more emotional warmth. But all agreed she was competent and relatable. The plot was well-paced with clever twists and clues that respected the reader’s intelligence. It never felt overcomplicated or reliant on shocks. This is a solid, engaging read that’s perfect for book clubs looking for suspense with substance and conversation starters. Rating - 5/5 Thanks for reading.

Book Review : Breaking the mold of mental health

Image
Book Review : Breaking the mold of mental health  Title - Breaking the mold of mental health  Author - Michele M Smith  Mateus was different from other kids his age, as well as his siblings. In their parents' absence, Marsha felt it was her duty to look after her brothers and sisters. She had a natural maternal instinct to protect those around her. However, while caring for Mateus, Marsha encountered many challenges and realized she couldn't take everything to heart. By overly dedicating herself to helping and listening to others, Marsha often neglected her own well-being. Michele reminds us that we are only responsible for our own mental health, not anyone else's. It's important to prioritize personal time to relax and recharge. Mateus also struggled with understanding boundaries. Though he was deeply caring and looked out for everyone else, he often forgot about his own needs. This highlights the need for more open conversations around mental health. Topics such as me...

Book Review : The Last Dance
