Book Review : Clyde The Alien Puppy

Book Review : Clyde The Alien Puppy

At first glance, Clyde the Alien Puppy, Commander of the Galaxy looks like a lighthearted story about a puppy with a very big imagination. Beneath that playful premise, however, is a touching story about vulnerability, friendship, safety, and belonging. The puppies begin cold, hungry, and lost, immediately creating a sense of uncertainty before the story gradually moves toward warmth and security.

I appreciated the way the six puppies rely on one another throughout their journey. Bonnie stays close, Daisy seeks reassurance, Bucky and Duke protect the group, and Ozzy brings comic energy wherever he goes. Their differences become part of what makes them work together.

The final message is simple but surprisingly powerful: adventure isn't always about travelling somewhere extraordinary. Sometimes it is about discovering a safe place and the people or in this case, puppies with whom you belong. Knowing afterward that the story was inspired by six real rescued puppies adds an emotional resonance that stays with you after the final page.
